Sears Optical Tuttle Mall to The Eye Center

The move from Sears Optical Tuttle to Central Ohio Eye Physicians & Surgeons

In January 2019 Dr. Wilkerson moved his practice from the Sears Optical at Tuttle Mall to Central Ohio Eye Physicians & Surgeons located at The Eye Center. Dr. Wilkerson enjoyed his 26 years working with Sears Optical practicing optometry and will continue to help his patients in the Columbus area.

Central Ohio Eye Physicians & Surgeons has two other doctors, Dr. Jack Dingle, and Dr. Thomas Dingle who also treat eye diseases and perform a variety of eye surgeries. Both ophthalmologists are board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association. This allows the practice to take care of most of your eye health needs including general eye exams, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and refractive surgery.

Why The Move From Sears Optical?

Since Sears’ file for bankruptcy in 2018, the volatility of the store and it’s affiliated stores were at an all-time high. For over 30 years, Dr. Wilkerson has been practicing optometry and plans to continue to help his patient in Central Ohio for as long as he can.  The opportunity to work for Central Ohio Eye Physicians & Surgeons came at a perfect time and allowed him to stay close to the existing patient demographics.

Jack and Thomas J. Dingle are highly respected in the community and were in need of a full-time eye doctor to help advance their practice and offerings. Their full eye surgery services and expertise, along with general eye exams, their office team can now provide all types of medical eye exams and surgeries.

What Does An Eye Exam Look like Now?

Eye exam consultations will be handled as quickly and as thorough as possible. Your appointment may consist of.

  • Health History Evaluation
  • Preliminary Testing for Visual Function and Eye Health
  • Near-sighted, far-sighted or astigmatism test.
  • Evaluate the curvature of the cornea
  • Tonometry test to measure the pressure inside the eye.
  • Visual field testing

You will need to bring your most recent insurance information and list of any medications you currently take. To get the most out of your appointment, please bring your current glasses or contacts or the package for reference. After the doctor’s exam, they will talk through their evaluation and discuss the best treatments moving forward. This is the perfect time to ask questions about your eye health and what you can do to maintain your eye health.

Please allow 1-3 hours for a full eye examination.
